Return Parts
Explanation
Parts with expected return lines are automatically returned to inventory in the system at removal, and part tags
are generated according to their status (Serviceable, Unserviceable, Quarantine – driven by Removal
Reason).
For non-repairable parts where return lines are created using Create Return Line on the
Part Removals tab, the parts are automatically returned to inventory in the system and part tags
are generated when Create Return Line is selected.
You can print generated part tags using Print Part Tag on the Returns tab
after you select the return line for the part (to attach to the physical part).
Technicians can reprint a part tag using Print Part Tag, or change the part tag using
Revise Part Tag, both available on the Returns tab.
Users with access can open the Part Tag Report Archive page to view and reprint part tags.
Prerequisites
- A return line must exist for the part.
- For repairable parts, return lines are created automatically when material is requested for the task. Return
lines are also created when you publish the work package that includes part removals, or when you add a removal
using the Add/Remove Part assistant. For KIT parts, return lines for repairable sub-components
are also created automatically when you add the KIT via the Add/Remove Part or Add Part
to Task assistant. When you sign off on the removal of a KIT sub-component, the sub-component is
automatically returned to inventory.
- Return lines are not created if the removal reason is Access, ROB, or
Swap.
- Sub-locations (Serviceable and Unserviceable) must be set up for the work location to support automatic
returns.
System Effects
- Returned parts appear on the Returns tab on the Task Details and
Fault Details pages and on the Hangar Maintenance Work Package or the
Aircraft Turn Details and Component Returns pages.
Procedure
You must be online to perform this procedure.
- Log in to IFS Cloud.
- Open the Task Details page.
- Sign-off the Removal for the part.
- The part is automatically returned based on the configured setup.
- Select whether to print the part tag or to revise the part tag.
- Enter a comment or remark (if revising).
Note: For part return and tag printing workflows to work smoothly in the mobile and web app,
ensure the Zero Cost > Zero Cost Allowed option is selected for the part from
the Inventory Part page. The Zero Cost Allowed option must be enabled for all
parts to ensure that returns and part tag printing can be processed without errors.
