Perform Operation Split
Explanation
Use this activity to define how to split the quantity between the original operation and the new operation.
Select the relevant work center for the new operation.
To split an operation from:
- Shop Order/Operations, Shop Order Operations and Shop Floor
Workbench pages. Click Operation Split and then Split.
- Machine Load, Labor Load, Machine Operations Scheduling and Labor Operations
Scheduling. Select a segment representing the operation to split and click Split Operation.
In the first assistant step:
- By default system will propose a new Operation No, but you can edit the proposed value if
required.
- Select the work center and resource on which the split operation will be performed on.
- Enter the reason for the split in the Split Reason field and the split quantity for the new shop order
operation in the Split Operation Qty field. Values will be entered automatically in the New Operation
Qty field.
In the second assistant step:
- The operation details are inherited from the original operation. You can edit the values that needs to be
changed other than the inherited value.
- If the operation is an outside operation then select Outside Op Item, and if needed change Outside
Op Supply Type and Outside Op Rpt Level.
- Select whether to copy document text, tools and work guidelines in the Copy Connected Objects
section.
Prerequisites
- A shop order operation with a quantity available to receive must exist.
- The operation cannot have Manual Operation Qty enabled.
- The split reason should be there defined on the Split Reason Codes page.
- If a WIP product line uses the operation as its To Operation, the quantity on the original
operation must not become less than the quantity already received for the WIP product line.
System Effects
- A new operation on the shop order will be created. The new operation will have the same sequence operation
number as the original. The operation will use the same setup, runtime and crew size by default, but you can
modify the new shop order operation after the split or in the adjust assistant.
- If the original operation is used as the To Operation on a WIP product line, an additional
WIP product line is created for the new operation.
