Enter Rate by Period
Explanation
Use this activity to enter the rate by period for a Master Schedule Level 1 part. Rate by period is defined per
Material Planning Scenario, so each scenario can hold its own periods and rates for the same part. The records are
entered on the Master Schedule - Rate By Period page, or on the Rate by
Period tab on the Master Schedule by Part page, which shows the records of the
part and the Material Planning Scenario selected on the page.
Rate by period cannot be defined for project MS parts. The Rate by Period tab is not
available if the part is connected to a project PNG.
Prerequisites
- A Material Planning Scenario must exist.
- An MS level 1 part must have been entered.
- The MS level 1 part must have been connected to the Material Planning Scenario.
System Effects
- The rate by period values are taken into consideration when the MS calculation is performed for the same
Material Planning Scenario. Records entered for other scenarios are not considered.
- The proposed MS supply is generated based on the defined rate and time unit, if the net requirement is equal
to or greater than the defined rate within the period's time unit.
- If the net requirement exceeds the defined rate within the period's time unit, the system continues
backwards in time to see if previous periods have free capacity, until the planning time fence is reached, which
is the rate by period's lower boundary.
- The Period Rate Defined indication is set per Material Planning Scenario, and shows that at
least one rate period with a To Date later than the system date exists for the part in that
scenario. The indication is not set for an inactive MS level 1 part, regardless of the rate periods entered for
the scenario.
