Add Additional Demand
Explanation
Use this activity to introduce hypothetical or future demands into a simulation profile on
the Additional Demands tab. These demands simulate potential customer orders or
other independent demand sources.
There are two pages to add additional demands to simulation profiles, depending on the planning engine:
- Simulation Profile - MRP Parts
page for MRP‑planned parts and Project MRP-planned parts.
- Simulation Profile - Master Schedule
Parts page for Master Schedule‑planned parts.
Use the Include in Simulation toggle to control whether an additional demand is included in
subsequent simulation runs without deleting the demand row.
For Master Schedule‑planned parts, you can use the Simulation Abnormal Demand toggle to
indicate whether a simulated independent demand is treated as a normal demand or an abnormal demand.
On Simulation Profile - MRP Parts page Additional
Demands tab, you can enter additional project miscellaneous demands by specifying a project and
activity sequence. PMRP simulations plan these demands, allowing you to evaluate the impact of potential project
material requirements.
Note:
When you save an additional demand for a project activity, a planning data row is
created on the MRP Planning Data tab if one does not already exist for the part and
project activity. When the row is created;
- Planning parameters, such as Planning Method, lead times, and lot sizes, are copied from the standard
inventory planning data row for the same part.
- Beginning On Hand is not copied. Instead, the current available project inventory for the
activity is used when the row is created.
- Quantity fields related to the project activity, such as Total Demand Quantity,
Total Order Quantity, and Projected On Hand, are set to zero
- A planning data row is created only if the simulation profile already contains a standard inventory row
(Project * and Activity Seq 0) for the same part.
Prerequisites
- A Material Planning Scenario other than scenario 1 must
exist.
- A user-allowed site must exist.
- A simulation profile must exist.
System Effects
- New simulated independent demand lines are added to the
simulation profile.
- These demands are included in subsequent MRP, Master
Scheduling, and PMRP simulation calculations when you use the Simulation Profile option or the
Live Snapshot with Additional Demands option as the Simulation Source.
- A planning data row is created for the part and the
project activity when the simulation profile does not already hold one.
