Use this activity to compare the aggregated material planning results of up to three Material Planning Scenarios for a selected inventory part on the Aggregated Planning Scenario Comparison - Material page. The comparison shows, per planning period, the total demand, total supply, and projected on hand of each selected scenario, so you can evaluate how a simulated planning situation differs from the live plan or from another simulation.
Select the Part, the Period Template, and the Site. For project parts, you can also select a Project ID and, under Chart Display, a project activity. Under Scenario Selection, select the Base Scenario, the Primary Scenario, and optionally the Secondary Scenario. To compare simulations against the live plan, select Material Planning Scenario 1 as the base scenario.
On the Material Chart tab, the comparison chart is displayed once you select the Period Begin No and Period End No that define the chart window, and enable at least one of the Demand, Supply, and Projected On Hand toggles. Demand and supply values appear as bars and projected on hand values appear as lines, per scenario and period. The Chart Details list shows the underlying period values for all periods, together with columns that express the primary and secondary scenario values as percentages of the base scenario values, for example, Primary Total Demand %.
From the Chart Details list, you can navigate to detailed information for a scenario and period, for example, MRP Part Information or MRP open supply and demand orders.
It is recommended to aggregate all compared scenarios close together in time, so that the results use the same period template time buckets and the scenario 1 baseline reflects a comparable live situation. On the Aggregation Details tab, you can see when each selected scenario was last aggregated and the Period 1 Begin Date of the period template, which helps you judge whether the compared values are current. You can also start a new aggregation directly from the page using the Aggregate Material Planning Scenario command.
