Repair codes represent generic definitions of repair activities used to perform or build up a repair. Repair codes must be associated with an inventory part before they can be used. Repair codes can be connected to a real part or to a position part.
For a real part, you define a repair source for the combination of repair code and part number: the repair can be processed as an Internal, External, or both. For external processing you can define a default supplier and external service type.
For a position part, repair codes can only be connected when the repair source is Internal Repair Only. When you select a position part on the Repair Codes per Part page, Repair Source is fixed to Internal Repair Only and cannot be changed. ESO Supplier and External Service Type remain visible but are not editable under the Internal Repair Only rules.
A position part repair code applies to all alternate parts at that position, so common repair operations need only be defined once at the position level. When the same repair code is also defined for a real part, the real part definition takes precedence at disposition.
