Add or Modify Work Task Material Lines

Explanation

This activity is used to add or modify material lines on a Material tab in a Work Task page.

When adding a line to the Material tab, by default it would be set up to the Supply Code Invent Order and then a modification could be made to the Supply Code.

When a material line is created for a condition code enabled part, the default condition code specified in Part Condition Codes page is automatically assigned. Material reservation and issuance are then processed based on the specified condition code. The condition code may be changed or cleared, if preferred.

Update Supply Code on Material from Contractor Sourcing 

When adding or modifying a material line on a Work Task, the Supply Code can be set to Contractor Sourced. For this Supply Code, both Inventory Parts and Purchase Parts that belong to the Work Task demand site can be used.

• The List of Values for Part shows Inventory Parts and Purchase Parts for the demand site.
• A material line can be planned as Contractor Sourced during work preparation. The line is not processed further until a Maintenance Contractor Order is created for the Work Task. Issuing contractor-sourced parts does not trigger a procurement process or create inventory demand.

When a Work Task is covered by a Maintenance Contractor Order, and the Maintenance Contractor is set to Contractor Sourced Material, the system updates the Supply Code on the Material Line to Contractor Sourced.

• Existing material lines with Supply Code Invent Order or Purchase Order are updated to Contractor Sourced. Both Inventory Parts and Purchase Parts are allowed.
• If a material line is connected to a Purchase Requisition, the line is kept. Source references are cleared, the Supply Code is set to Contractor Sourced, and the line is closed.
• A corresponding payment line can be created for the contractor-sourced material.
• This ensures that contractor-supplied materials are tracked correctly without activating standard procurement flows.

System Effects

• When using Supply Code Purchase Order, the Purchase Method could be set to one of the following,

  •  Regular Purchase – Regular purchasing flow which would create a Purchase Requisition in Order Code 1 upon releasing the Work Task/Maintenance Material Requisition.

  • Exchange Order – Exchange orders enable the company to purchase serviceable parts in exchange for unserviceable parts, which are sent back to the supplier; a Purchase Requisition in Order Code 1 upon releasing the Work Task/Maintenance Material Requisition.

  • Borrow Order - A borrow order flow refers to the procurement scenario where the company temporarily acquires components or materials from a supplier for internal use, without immediate ownership transfer; a Purchase Requisition in Order Code 1 upon releasing the Work Task/Maintenance Material Requisition.

  • Repair Order – This flow is used to send a part to a supplier for maintenance and repair services, starting external service/repair orders. a Purchase Requisition in Order Code 6 upon releasing the Work Task/Maintenance Material Requisition.
