Responding to requests for engineering assistance

Technicians working on a maintenance visit might come across a task or a non-routine that does not include or provide the correct technical information to complete the work. When this occurs, they can request engineering assistance for the task. Maintenix lists these tasks on a to-do list accessible by users who have engineering skills.

To respond to these requests, do the following:

  • Find the task or non-routine, and review the information it includes.
  • Add the information that you deem necessary and helpful for the technician to complete the task—such as instructions, labor requirements, part requirements, tool requirements, measurements, zone and panel information, technical references, and/or attachments.
  • Sign off on the task to indicate that you have provided the assistance required. For faults, you also mark the fault as evaluated.
