Release 6.18.1¶
Enhancements¶
Vector Map Basemaps¶
The map basemaps in the PSO Workbench have been migrated from raster tiles to vector tiles for the HERE, Esri and TomTom providers. Vector tiles are a more modern and performant way of rendering the map: the visible area is loaded as a single vector object and drawn by the browser, rather than as a grid of individual images requested on every pan and zoom. This is particularly beneficial for users working a long distance from the server hosting their PSO system.
Support for Azure Maps has also been added as a new vector map provider.
Bing Maps continues to use raster tiles and is unchanged. See the Deprecated Features appendix for the Bing Maps support timeline.
The map provider is selected using the 'MapProvider' workbench parameter, which is entered as free text. The valid values are:
- 'HERE' - HERE (vector)
- 'ESRI' - Esri (vector)
- 'TOMTOM' - TomTom (vector)
- 'AZURE' - Azure Maps (vector)
- 'BING' - Bing Maps (raster)
Esri now requires an API key¶
The Esri vector basemap requires a customer-supplied API key, configured via the 'MapKey' workbench parameter. Customers using Esri ('MapProvider' set to 'ESRI') without an API key will continue to see a map via the previous anonymous Esri raster basemap, but this is a deprecated compatibility path (see the Deprecated Features appendix). To move onto the supported vector path, configure an Esri API key in 'MapKey'.
