Release 6.18.2¶
Enhancements¶
Retain Parts for Shift¶
Reusable global and shared parts can now be marked to be retained with a resource for the entire duration of a shift, using the new retain_for_shift flag on the Part entity. When enabled, the resource will hold the part for the entire duration of the shift, without returning the part to the stock between activities.
This functionality is useful for setting limits on which resources can carry out particular kinds of work throughout the day, or effectively committing one resource or crew to working on certain jobs for the whole day. For example, if resources represent machines in a factory, with a limit on how many machines can be used each day, a global or shared part could represent this limit. Prior to the new functionality, parts could only model a limit at an individual point in time, allowing machines to alternate which are in use throughout the day.
See the Scheduling Concepts - Parts guide for full details.
