General Enhancements

The following general enhancements have also been made to the product:

Performance Improvements

Benchmarking has been carried out to compare PSO 6.2 against PSO 6.1, with the results showing a significant improvement in the amount of time it takes to reach a good plan margin.

Hierarchical Travel Matrices

HTMs have been made available for the following areas since the previous update:

  • Western Europe
  • United States
  • Scandinavia
  • Saudi Arabia

All HTMs are based on the latest data available from TomTom and use the latest HTM format.

In addition, some benchmarking has been carried out to compare the performance of using a new format HTM to the performance with the previous format. The results show a marked improvement in the time to retrieve data from the HTM, resulting in a significantly reduced time to generate an initial plan.

Licence Alerts

The PSO system can now provide e-mailed licence alerts if it detects that a customer has exceeded their licence usage limit, or the licence is close to expiring.

See the Administration Guide guide for full details of this functionality.

Note

The e-mail notification is only intended for use in on-premise systems. However for Azure systems there will still be notifications written to the event logs which can then be picked up and acted on via Azure monitoring.

Implicit Breaks

Improvements have been made to the scheduling of implicit breaks to determine if the break is likely to be currently underway or has already happened. This is particularly relevant where no status information related to the break is being sent to the scheduling system.

See the Scheduling Concepts - Constraints and Preferences guide for details of implicit break functionality.

Cyclic Scheduling

Improvements have been made to the Cyclic Scheduling process, particularly when using repeatable activities. These were to improve the performance and quality of the schedules produced.

See the Scheduling Concepts - Long-Term Scheduling guide for details of this functionality.
