Performance Improvements¶
Appointment Booking Improvements¶
Improvements have been made to streamline the processing of appointment requests. The primary aim here has been to increase the rate at which requests can be processed. However, there are also performance gains in the time taken to process each individual request.
With these improvements, the Appointment Booking Engine is now expected to handle appointment requests at a rate of up to 1 request every 2 seconds. The results below show timings for 1000 appointment requests, each requesting 20 slots, and starting from a schedule including 10,000 activities in Germany (using a V4 EUR HTM).

In addition, a new 'fallback profile' option has been included to allow even faster throughput of appointment requests where necessary, though at the expense of less accurate travel estimates. With the use of a fallback profile appointments can be processed at a rate of 2 per second.

Schedule Query Manager Improvements¶
Improvements have been made to speed up the filtering process when retrieving data for individual resources and activities. This is used to retrieve resource and activity details on the workbench. These improvements significantly reduce both the time taken to retrieve an individual resource or activity details, and the overall load on the Schedule Query Manager.
Schedule Broadcast Manager Improvements¶
Improvements have also been made to the flow of data through the broadcast manager. Although these improvements were aimed at streamlining the appointment booking process they apply to all types of broadcast. These changes include improvements to recording the timing of broadcasts in the Broadcast_History table.
