Historical Travels

If the system is setup to take snapshots of the scheduling system using the IFS Schedule Archiving Service, there are various travel-related archiving features. An overview of these features is given in this section, a more comprehensive description of these features can be found in the IFS Scheduling Schema Guide.

Travel Fact

The Travel Fact Table within the Schedule Archive Database is a transaction fact table which records details of each completed journey made by each resource in the schedule. This is particularly useful to generate reports of travels that occurred in the scheduling system. Each record holds information about the travel such as expected & actual travel time, travel distance, start & end location, start & end area etc.

Travel statistics

A number of useful statistics are recorded on the fact tables related to travel. For example, the plan fact snapshot table (ARC_Plan_Snapshot_Fact) contains statistics such as:

  • total travel time
  • expected travel time
  • completed travel time
  • travel time today

Travel dimensions

Some of the fact tables can be filtered or grouped by a number of travel related dimensions such as area (ARC_Area), region (ARC_Region) and location (ARC_Location).
