Set up and Configure External File Storage¶
To set up the platform service required for external file storage see IFS Cloud File Storage for Remote Deployment.
After setting up the platform service, refer to the sections below to configure digital signature documents, fault attachments and images of measurements captured via a LiDAR device, to be saved to the external file storage location.
Configure external file storage for digital signature documents¶
To store digital signature documents to an external file storage location, follow the steps below:
- Navigate to the Solution Manager/Signing Service/Signing Service Settings.
- For the Storage option to store Digitally Signed Documents parameter, click Edit and set the value to FSS.
- Click Save.
Note:
File names of digital signature documents are encoded in the Base64 format. Once decoded, the files are named in the following format:
Defer fault
- When a fault is raised offline and deferred offline:
<Tail number>_OFFLINE_<User ID>_<Timestamp>
- When a fault is raised offline or online and deferred online:
<Tail number>_<Record ID>_<User ID>_<Timestamp>
Record work
- When a fault is raised offline and work is recorded offline:
<Tail number>_OFFLINE_<User ID>_<Timestamp>
- When a fault is raised offline or online and work is recorded online:
<Tail number>_<Record ID>_<User ID>_<Timestamp>

Configure external file storage for fault attachments¶
To store fault attachments to an external file storage location, follow the steps below:
- Navigate to the Document Management/Basic Data/EDM Basic/Repositories page.
- Click New and add a repository ID or name to identify the external file storage location. The name does not have to have any relation to the name of the computer or storage location you will use.
- In the Document Class field, select the MM DOC document class, as this is the class for which fault attachments are added by a technician.
- In the Repository Type field, select File Storage.
- In the Status field, select Generating. A given document class can have only one location in the Generating status; all other locations must be set to Usable.
- Click Save.
Configure external file storage for LiDAR measurement images¶
To store LiDAR measurement images that are saved as media items in IFS Cloud, to an external file storage location, follow the steps below:
- Navigate to the Application Base Setup/System Setup/System Definitions/Object Properties page.
- Search for the object property where the value for the Object LU field is MediaItem and the Property Name field is Repository.
- Click Edit.
- In the Property Value field, set the value to FILE_STORAGE.
- Click Save.
