IFS Business Reporter- Modes

IFS Business Reporter tool comes in two modes to cater to the distinct needs of users who either consume reports or design them. The two modes are identified as End User Mode/ Report Mode and Design Mode. Both modes play essential roles in the report lifecycle but serve very different purposes. Below is a breakdown of each mode.

Report Mode

Report Mode is designed for users who primarily consume the reports without needing to modify the report design. The focus here is on interacting with and analyzing the final product, which has been carefully designed and structured by report creators.

  • Drill-Down/ Zoom-In Capabilities: In more advanced reports, users can click on summarized data points (e.g., aggregated values) to drill down/zoom in to more granular details, enhancing exploration without altering the structure.

  • Exporting and Sharing: End users can export the report or data for writeback purposes or share it with other stakeholders.

  • Importing data: End users can import external data into a Business Reporter report.

  • Ordering and Scheduling reports: Users can execute previously published reports.

  • Writeback data: Authorized end users can write information back to IFS Cloud or a text file.

In this mode, the focus is on enabling users to derive insights and write back without the complexity of designing or altering the report.

Design Mode

Design Mode is intended for report developers responsible for creating and customizing reports. In this mode, users have full control over the structure, data sources, and layout of the report, focusing on tailoring the content to meet organizational/end user needs.

Note

Permission sets define, what actions a user can perform based on their role, ensuring that they only have access to necessary activities. These permission sets are assigned based on whether the user is an end user or a report designer, streamlining access control and safeguarding the report’s integrity.
