View and Analyse BR Report¶
This section explains how to view and analyze a BR report.
Note
To perform these actions, you must be an authenticated BR end user with the necessary permissions to access a BR report. Further to analyze a report, an executed Business Reporter report must be available.
View BR Report¶
This activity is used to view a Business Reporter (BR) report. It could be either a report saved on disk or a report published in IFS Cloud.
To view a report saved on disk, Open the report saved on disk and Log in to the IFS Business Reporter client giving the user name and password. If you want to view the latest data, execute the report again.
The procedure for order reports is explained in the Order Report section. There are several methods to view an ordered report. They are:
- View directly with Excel.
- Download the report from Report Archive and view it with Excel.
Analyze BR Report¶
This activity is used to analyze an executed IFS Business Reporter (BR) report.
You can use Zoom In and Drill Down features to analyze the report. With these features, it is possible to analyze information in IFS Cloud directly from the report. This will give you more information about the underlying data related to the resulting information in a report. Zoom In will perform a detailed breakdown within the same data source. Drill Down will perform a detailed breakdown from related data sources.
Note
If you want to zoom-in or drill-down in a report, then these options must be enabled in the report design.
To analyze a report using Zoom In:¶
Right-click on a zoom-in enabled cell and select the option Zoom In to view zoomed-in information.
To analyze a report using Drill Down:¶
Right-click on a drill-down enabled cell and select the option Drill Down to view drilled-down information. A new worksheet in Microsoft Excel will open to display the drill-down information.
For further analysis, select a row in the Excel sheet that opened. Right-click and select IFS Business Reporter options and select a window name in the list. This will take you to the relevant window in IFS Cloud.
Note
If the system parameters relating to the URL options have not been set up in IFS Solution Manager, it will result in an error. In such an instance, contact the system administrator.
To enter notes, comments, and any other non-BR content:¶
Any non-BR output that should be saved with the report, can be placed on a non-BR sheet during the report analysis.
Note
To enter non-BR content to be saved as a part of the BR report, a non-BR sheet should be defined when designing the report. When non-BR Sheet option is applied to a particular sheet in the report design, it will be highlighted in purple to indicate that it is a non-BR sheet.
- In the executed report, open the relevant non-BR sheet.
- Enter the required notes, comments, diagrams, or text reports based on the report analysis that you want to save with the report.
- Enter the required pivot tables/charts in the non-BR sheet and refer to data from the ordinary BR sheets.
Note
If the Auto-Refreshing Enabled for Excel Pivot option is enabled for the non-BR sheet in the report design, the pivot table/chart will get updated with the latest data from the subsequent BR report executions.
To display datasets created before execution, to analyze execution time, and to check the datasets created in the report:¶
- In the Document Actions pane, click on Debug.
- If the Data Set Information option is enabled in Design Mode there will be two tabs available, the Activity Log tab showing execution time and details for the different activities, and the Data Set Info tab showing information about created data sets and how they have been grouped.
- If the Display Dataset Info Before Executing option was enabled in Design Mode, the button Dataset Info will be enabled, and clicking on it will show all server data sets and the execution time for each set and also the client data sets that correspond to each server data set.
Dataset Information¶
Report Mode provides Debug options, where one option can be used to display datasets created during execution and also the execution time for each dataset. This option is useful when analyzing performance issues in a report, providing the possibility to find the datasets in a report that consume most of the total execution time.
Note
To analyze the execution time for each dataset in the executed report, the Debug option Display Dataset Information before Executing must be selected in the design mode in Report Options located in the IFS Business Reporter ribbon.
