Standardized Reporting with Core Layouts

Some operational reports utilize pre-designed core layouts to ensure consistency and efficiency. These layouts offer several key advantages:

  • Uniformity: Core layouts guarantee a standardized look and feel for specific report types, promoting clarity and ease of understanding for users.

  • Reduced Development Time: Pre-designed layouts save time and effort for report developers, as they don't need to build the layout from scratch for each report.

  • Centralized Control: Core layouts are often managed by a central team (e.g., R&D), ensuring consistency and adherence to organizational reporting standards.

The Core Layout field under Report Layout Definition is set to Yes for the provided core layouts in the environment.

Restricted Modifications for Core Layouts:

To maintain uniformity, core layouts typically have limited modification options for users as follows:

  • Delete Layout: Core layouts cannot be deleted directly from the report Layouts window. This protects the standardized format and ensures consistency.
  • Save Layout: The save option for changes made to the core layouts will be disabled to prevent unintended changes that might affect the standardized format.

Modifying Core Layouts (if necessary):

While direct changes to core layouts are restricted, users still have flexibility as follows:

  • Export: If specific modifications are required, users can export the core layout. This creates a copy that can be modified without affecting the original core layout.
  • Re-import As a Custom Layout: Once exported, the user can make desired changes to the exported layout by re-importing it as a custom layout.

Overall, core layouts provide a balance between standardized reporting and user flexibility, ensuring consistent and efficient report generation while allowing for necessary adaptations.
