Remote deployment option overview

Overview

The Remote deployment model environment is an on-prem deployment solution for IFS Cloud.

To set up a Remote deployment model environment, the Linux version as specified in the Supported Platforms documentation is a requirement. A k8s instance will be installed in a Linux VM from a flavor specified in the supported platforms documentation to form the Linux Middle Tier Server k8s VM using the scripts provided with the ifs-remote bootstrap zips which can be downloaded from the IFS Lifecycle Experience Guide.

This Linux Middle Tier Server k8s VM together with a Management Server from the customers’ own template will make up the middle tier of IFS Cloud. The Database server can be a physical server outside the Virtualization Platform.

Remote Overview

Management server

The Management server is the server from where installation and configuration are made to the middle tier and the Database. It contains a folder structure with some utility scripts and a folder with all required configurations. The build_home and successive deliveries reside in this folder structure. This machine is probably a VM in a Virtualization Platform but can also be a standalone physical machine.

Middle Tier server

The Middle Tier components deployed in the Linux middle tier VM are delivered from IFS. All necessary configuration of it is done by utility scripts from the management server.

Database server

This server will have the database instance installed on it. It is probably a physical machine but can be virtualized as well.
