Windows Common
Guidelines
- Set window title and put the window in the navigator according to the
Navigator Standards
- If possible, place your own hidden columns in tables (both in Table
Window Forms and child tables)
at the end. This is so class library functions to lock columns can work properly.
- Place labels (Background Text,
cBackgroundText
) above data fields if possible.
- Labels:
- Capitalize words,
except prepositions before data fields.
End with a colon (this is normally handled by the framework and
development tools for data bound objects)!
- Capitalize words,
except prepositions in column headers, Do not end with a colon!
- Try to avoid abbreviations, unless widely known and recognized.
- Window showing one master record at the time shall have a
cRecListDataField
in the top left corner. This is used by the
framework for the record selector in the feature toolbar.
- Window showing one master record at the time should include status code
and description when populated. E.g. Employee - 033 Johansson
- Avoid using buttons on form windows. Normally, these should only be
placed in dialogs.
