How To - Add a field to an existing window

This section describes how you customize an existing form window by adding a cDataField to it.

The example is using the steps described in A Simple Client Customization as base, followed by additional steps for adding the field.

Pre-Requirements

A Simple Client Customization getting a customized form window named frmPersonInfo_Cust.

Add the field

• Open the Ifs.Application.Enterp_Cust.sln solution in VS.
• Open frmPersonInfo_Cust in Designer mode.
• Open the Toolbar menu  IFS Development Tools and start the Dataset Toolbox
• In the Dataset Toolbox, press the Refresh View Info button and logon to the database
• Drag one of the fields from the list into the designer area or frmPersonInfo_Cust
• Compile and start IEE
• Open the customized window named Person

Example: Shows how field 'Country' is dragged from the Dataset Toolbox into the Design area of frmPersonInfo_Cust

Result

Your field should now be available on the customized window.
