About translation handling in IFS Business Reporter:

• MS Office related translations are always represented by so called Satellite Assemblies.

   

• Satellite Assemblies are created as part of the ordinary IFS build process, i.e. when an IFS Build Home is created.

  Note: During the build process it is possible to select languages. The selected languages are the ones that will support IFS Business Reporter specific Satellite Assemblies

   
• The following happens during the build process
  • MsBuild will locate a source DLL and generate necessary Satellite Assemblies.
  • The assemblies will be copied to the folder \source\bacli\client\Assemblies in the Build Home.

   

• Created language assemblies must be copied to the local installation home of IFS Business Reporter, i.e. it is necessary to do this for each and every installation of IFS Business Reporter.

  The target folder is called Assemblies. This is not very convenient, so a workaround has been added (please refer to next bullet)

• To simplify, IFS Business Reporter provides a possibility to copy language assemblies to the correct location on the local machine, without having to bother about where to copy the files.
  • The administrator defines a public share that provides read access to all IFS Business Reporter users.

     

  • Next the shared location is defined as the value for parameter Location of the satellite assemblies in the BR System Parameters form in Solution Manager.

    The parameter is defined according to the format \\<server>\<folder>. The folder path of the satellite assemblies has to be specified for the system parameter Location of the satellite assemblies in the BR System Parameters form.

  • One possibility is to define the shared location as \source\bacli\client\Assemblies in the Build Home. The problem with this approach is that the Build Home might be removed with time. The other possibility is then to create a shared folder on a network server/machine and then to copy all files and folders from \source\bacli\client\Assemblies in the Build Home to the new shared folder. This copy operation is normally handled by an administrator that can access the Build Home and create a shared folder and provide read privileges.

   

  • When the language satellite assemblies are available it is now possible for each IFS Business Reporter user to refresh the local translation cache by, in IFS Business Reporter, using the Refresh Translation Cache option in the Settings dialog reached via IFS Business Reporter ribbon. Once the Refresh action is performed, it is required to close the IFS Business Reporter client and reopen.

    Note: Please make sure to close IFS Business Reporter before opening it from scratch. The translation assemblies will not get loaded unless IFS Business Reporter (and Excel) is closed.

    If the refresh of the language cache is successful then a message box with the following message will appear:

    To check if any language assemblies have been copied, it is necessary to locate the folder on the current computer that contains the IFS Business Reporter installation. Below is one example, where IFS Business Reporter specific satellite assemblies for many languages have been copied to the local installation folder.

• Once the IFS Business Reporter translation cache has been refreshed, close down IFS Business Reporter and start again.

  Choose language from the login dialog.

Note: New translation satellite assemblies are created as a part of the IFS build process, i.e. handled by the MS Build step. When a new build is done the selected languages will affect creation of satellite assemblies. The IFS Business Reporter specific assemblies then have to be moved from the folder \source\bacli\client\Assemblies in the Build Home to the public share defined by the parameter Location of the satellite assemblies
