Installation of Developer Studio is always performed on a local machine by
running an installer (.exe) for developers at IFS as well as partners and
customers. The installer for internal users is available at
\\corpnet\\files\\F1Tools\\IFSDeveloperStudio\\.
Partner version of Developer Studio can be found at
\\corpnet\files\F1ToolsExternal\IFSDeveloperStudio\.
To setup IFS Developer Studio, run the installer exe on the machine and
simply follow the steps in the wizard.
Note: For customers and partners who do
not have access to the IFS network (i.e.
\\corpnet\files\F1Tools\IFSDeveloperStudio\) the installer exe must be copied
on to removable media or sent over the network to the customer/partner site and
then run locally on the machines.
Since Developer Studio frequently releases updates which may include new features and bug fixes it is important that every installation contains the latest updates. In most cases Developer Studio automatically updates itself with minimum user intervention.
If the user is inside IFS network, Developer Studio updates from an internal update center. Partners or customers that do not have access to the IFS network can setup an update center within their own network using the partner version of IFS Developer Studio.
A single version of Developer Studio is used to support multiple IFS Applications version using a development target concept. Since the default/supported application server varies depending on the project target version Developer Studio contains more than one application server version. For IFS Applications 9, the IFS MIddleware Server (i.e. WebLogic) is used for services layer development. Developer Studio tries to locate the necessary version of Weblogic Server 12c on the IFS network, if not found the required file has to be downloaded manually from Oracle.
