Business Reporter Execution Server

Software Versions Execution Mode(s) for which the pre-requisite is mandatory Editions Comments Limitations
Windows Server OS According to the IFS Middleware Server section of the Supported Platforms for IFS Applications 10. OOXML (Office OpenXML SDK based)
VSTO (Microsoft Excel based)
Business Reporter None From IFS Applications 10 Update 7 onwards, IFS Business Reporter is not a pre-requisite.
Customers upgrading IFS BR Execution Server from previous versions (or updates) should install the IFS Business Reporter (UPD7 or later) install msi version of IFS Business Reporter and do an uninstallation for the preparation of the registry. This should be done only once.
Only the msi version of IFS Business Reporter (BR) can be used, i.e. it is NOT possible to install the ClickOnce version of IFS Business Reporter on the computer hosting BRES. This also means that if the ordinary BR users are using the ClickOnce version, the machine hosting the Execution Server must still be maintained by updating Business Reporter using the msi version.

It is not ok according to Microsoft to use an application as BRES, running on a separate server, to produce Excel reports to one or many IFS Application end users without these users having a valid Microsoft Excel license. This still applies for the case when BRES produces PDF reports.
Microsoft Office Language Packs VSTO (Microsoft Excel based) The machine that hosts IFS Business Reporter Execution Server must have a MS Office version installed that matches the locale, CultureInfo, of the end user's regional settings. Else install the MS Office MUI (Multilingual User Interface) according to the end users' locale.
Microsoft Office Excel According to the Microsoft Office Products section of the Supported Platforms for IFS Applications 10. VSTO (Microsoft Excel based) Professional Plus If a customized installation is performed, please make sure that the .NET Programmability Support feature is selected. Problems have been found related to Office 365 . It is not recommended to install and use the 365 Office version on a computer hosting IFS Business Reporter Execution Server. Since IFS Business Reporter Reporter Server is regarded as a server application, the recommendation is to use an on-premises version of Office. Please note that for this scenario there is small possibility that report designers might get access to Excel functionality that is not yet available in the on-premises version which can lead to that that the Execution Server cannot render the reports correctly.

It is not possible to install IFS Business Reporter for many users if Microsoft Office 365 is used since it is based on single prescriptions
Adobe Reader According to the Non-Microsoft Server Products section of the Supported Platforms for IFS Applications 10. None Not mandatory
