Define a new Prime Part

Explanation

This activity is used to register a new prime part for a template structure position. This change will be introduced into the template structure through the modification revision on which this activity is performed.

To define a new prime part, go to the Template Structure Impacts from Modification/Template Changes tab, create a record and enter Change Prime Part as the structure impact type. Enter the template part information, impacted structure position, and the new prime part revision (i.e., the new prime part for the impacted structure position).

Note that the template structure will not be updated automatically. Instead, you need to manually change to the new prime part in the Manage Template Structure page. For more information, refer the Change Prime Part activity.

Prerequisites

• The modification must have been created. This modification must be in the Preliminary status.
• The structure position must exist in the template structure.
• The new prime part must exist as a valid alternate for the chosen structure position. 

System Effects

• A new valid prime part is defined for the template structure position.
• The template can be updated with the new prime part for the structure position.
