This activity is used to define the resources of a particular company as scheduling resources and to enter relevant scheduling data for each scheduling resource. It is necessary to set up a resource as a scheduling resource if you want to schedule the resource by using the Scheduling Engine. Each resource must be connected to a valid resource type which is defined in the Scheduling Basic Data/Resource Type tab. If scheduling data is not defined for a resource it will inherit the data from the connected resource type, for example, the start and end locations of a resource type's work shift and scheduling costs will be assigned to the resource. For the start and end locations the geo-coordinates of the map positions will also be transferred to the Scheduling Engine. The scheduling data for a resource can be changed at any time. Active flag can be used to disable or enable a resource. Only the active resources are used for scheduling. Changed information for a scheduling resource will require to run a Load-job for Send Data for Scheduling to get the changes done for the resource into the Scheduling Engine.
For each Scheduling Resource the Logon Method can be set either to Active Logon or Auto Logon. If the Active Logon is set Logon status on PSO will be retrieved based on the real time logon status of the Resource and Activities will get planned based on that. Whereas in Auto Logon PSO plans activities for the resoure irrespective of whether the resource is actually available in the shift or not.
The resources will be scheduled using a valid dataset. The Scheduling Engine will then return a scheduled plan. For more information, refer to the activities Define Scheduling Datasets/a> and Define Scheduling Broadcast.
For the setup of a Resource in IFS/Enterprise/Resource see: About Maintenance Resource Setup
As a result of this activity, the employees of a company that are to be scheduled will be set up with relevant scheduling data and can be included in the scheduling.
