Use this activity to change the sort order of the forecast part database. When you work with forecasts of items for which you know the part number or description, select a sort order based on either ascending Part No or Description. If you want to work from a management by exceptions perspective, sort the parts by one of the forecast error parameters. The sorting based on forecast error parameters is always descending; the part number with the highest value of the selected error parameter will come first in the database. For example, sorting on MAPE will present the parts with the highest percentage errors; sorting on Value of MAE will present the parts with the highest MAE in terms of dollar value (based on cost price), and so on.
The phase In and phase Out sort by selections have a light green market in the list, this marks the phase in or phase out (depends on the sorting selection) that is closest to to days date. Note that this marker is only available when there is no active group selection. The phase in or out lists are sorted descending (2004.01.01 is higher than 2003.01.01). Use these sort orders to check that you have entered forecasts on parts that are about to be phased in, or you can check that you have a sensible forecast for parts that are about to be phased out.
The Adjusted forecast Ph. In. is sorted according to the sum of the adjusted forecast, the lowest sum is on the top. If parts have equal sum then the parts are sorted according to the phase in date (descending). Use this to find parts that are authorized and have no forecast values set.
The management by exceptions functionality is described in Select Part No. The four forecast error parameters are described in the Detail View.
When you change the sort order, the current part number remains selected.
This activity requires that the selection in Select Part must be individual, rather than All (group or aggregate level).
