Replace All Components with Alternate Components

Explanation

This activity is used to replace component parts with alternate components for an entire shop order. The system replaces all possible components according to the alternate component setup. You cannot manually pick alternate components. The option to replace all to alternate components will be available only if a sufficient quantity exists for at least one alternate component. The shop order components will be replaced with the alternate components. Only nettable inventory quantities will be considered.

To perform this activity from the Shop Order, Shop Orders, Shop Orders Material Availability or Production Line Management/Shop Orders page, select the shop order(s), click Material Actions and then Replace All to Alternate Components.

To perform this activity from the Material Availability Summary chart, select the segment for the relevant orders and click Replace All to Alternate Components.

Prerequisites

A shop order component with at least one valid alternate component having sufficient quantity must exist.

System Effects

•  The main components will be replaced with the alternate components. When replacing a main component, the alternate component having the lowest sequence number will be considered first.
  • Note: The scrap component values on the alternate component will be fetched from its inventory part record rather than from the part it replaces.
• The lot/batch origin option will be disabled when the main component is replaced with an alternate component.
