Replace Component with Alternate Components

Explanation

This activity is used to replace the main component of one or several shop order material lines with alternate components. The system replaces the components according to the alternate component setup. You cannot manually pick alternate components.

To perform this activity from:

• The Shop Order/Materials or Shop Order Materials page, select the relevant material line(s), click Alternate Component and then Replace All.
• The Shop Floor Workbench page, expand the relevant operation, open the Materials tab, select the relevant material line(s), click Alternate Component and then Replace All.
• The Material Lines Availability chart, select the segment for the relevant material Line(s) and click Replace with Alternate Component.

 

Prerequisites

The main component of the material line must have at least one valid alternate component with available quantity.

System Effects

• As a result of this activity, the main components will be replaced with the alternate components. When replacing a main component, the alternate component having the lowest sequence number will be considered first.

Note: The scrap component values on the Alternate Component will be fetched from its inventory part record rather than from the part it replaces.

• The lot/batch origin option will be disabled when the main component is replaced with an alternate component.
