Define Location

Explanation

This activity is used to define a Location. Locations are used to register information about the geographical location of something e.g. an equipment object or a customer. It is also possible to define a time zone for the Location.

When creating a New Location, it is mandatory to specify a Category. The Category can either be Customer or Location. For category Customer, it is necessary to reference a customer record.

It is possible to enter a new address for the location or fetch existing addresses connected
to customers. An address must be defined as visit address and/or delivery address. A primary visit/delivery address per party can be defined for the location. The primary address can be changed over time for the location. Locations can be connected to equipment objects. Service requests/work orders inherit the location from the Service/Equipment Objects and the corresponding primary visit address from the Location.

One address per location can be used as the position address and the Map Position is automatically retrieved when a new location is created. The map position for the location can also be retrieved by using Retrieve Map Positions command in Location Addresses page. This map position is inherited to connected equipment objects and service requests.

For Location Category Location it is possible to create or update the address information using reverse geocoding, where the address details will be updated based on the position coordinates for the location. The "Create/Update Address" button will automatically update the Location Address by sending an API call to Here, retrieving the relevant address details as well as a time zone for the location.

The Service Notes are free-text comments that can be used to capture information relevant to the Location, for example a tip about where to park at the Location. The notes will also be visible on Requests and Work Tasks associated with the Location, by enabling Show Associated Notes in the respective Service Notes tabs. More information about Service Notes.
