Check Out Tool and Equipment
Explanation
Perform this activity to check out tools and equipment for a person (i.e., technician).
If the tool tracking is enabled for a tool and equipment group used in maintenance, services or manufacturing,
it is possible to track check out and check in of the tools and equipment belonging to that tool group. To check
out an individual tool and equipment click the option Check Out on the Tool and
Equipment page or Tools and Equipment page and on the Check
Out assistant, select the person ID of the person who is accepting the tool and equipment from the
tool crib. If the tool is needed for use in shop order operation or indirect job, the specific tool application may
also be selected through the Check Out assistant on the Tool and
Equipment page or Tools and Equipment page. It is also possible to
check out multiple tools and equipment from the Tools and Equipment page.

Note: If security checkpoint is enabled, sign off is required when checking out tools and equipment.
Note: In sites where the Only Check Out to Person with Ongoing Clockings settings is enabled,
tools may only be checked out for a shop order operation if the employee associated with the person receiving the
tool has an ongoing clocking for the selected operation
Prerequisites
- Tool and Equipment group must be used in Maintenance, Services or Manufacturing.
- Tool Tracking must be enabled for the Tool and Equipment group.
- Check out status of the tool and equipment must be Checked In.
- If the tool and Equipment has a serial object connection, connected part serial should be in
Operational condition.
- If a tool is to be checked out for an indirect job, the employee associated with the person receiving the
tool must have an active clocking for the indirect job.
System Effects
- Tool and Equipment is checked out and Check Out Status and Checked Out To
fields are updated in Tools and Equipment page.
- Check out history record is created for the checked out tools and equipment on the Tool and
Equipment Check Out History page and on the Check Out History tab on
Tool/Equipment page.
- If a tool is checked out from the Tools and Equipment page or
Tool/Equipment page for an indirect job, a direct allocation for the tool will be
created based on the duration specified in the Check Out Assistant.
- If a tool is checked out from the Tools nad Equipment page or
Tool/Equipment page for a shop order operation, and there is no existing demands for
the selected tool, a direct allocation will be created based on the duration specified in the Check
Out assistant.
- If a tool is checked out from the Tools and Equipment page or the
Tool/Equipment page for a shop order operation, and there is an existing allocation
from the same tool group with the tools that are not currently checked out, the allocation will be updated to
replace the assigned tool with the newly selected one.
- If a tool is checked out from the Tools and Equipment page or the
Tool/Equipment page for a shop order operation that already has tools from the same
tool group currently checked out, a new direct allocation will be created for the selected tool
