Review Pending Reference Approvals

Explanation

Use this activity to review pending deferral and repair reference authorization requests so they are not missed when you plan the next maintenance window. This is a general process in 7.46.1.1 Review all Upcoming Maintenance Requirements. It is not in the main sequence of open-task, open-fault, and opportunistic-task review. See Line Maintenance Planning.

When a technician selects a deferral or repair reference that requires maintenance operations control (MOC) authorization, the request appears on the Pending Reference Approvals page. Review the request, the related open and deferred faults, and upcoming flights before you decide how the fault affects the next work package.

This activity is a review. It does not approve or reject the request. To approve or reject a deferral or repair reference request, see Approve or Reject a Fault Deferral Request and Accept or Reject the Request to Add the Repair Reference.

Procedure

Search pending reference approvals

  1. Go to Aviation Maintenance > Line Maintenance > Maintenance Operations Control > Deferral Management > Pending Reference Approvals.
  2. If required, select Aircraft Groups to filter the list.
  3. Select Apply to display matching requests. Select Reset or Clear if you need to change the filter.
  4. If no records are displayed, no pending requests match the current filter.

Review a pending reference approval

  1. Open a request to display the Pending Reference Approval page.
  2. In Details, review Aircraft, System, Description, Evaluated, Requested By, Deferral Reference, Barcode, Reason, Notes, Fault Name, and Fault Source.
  3. Select Open and Deferred Faults to review related faults, including fault name, barcode, deferral reference, found on date, due date, failed system, fault severity, and deferral class.
  4. Select Upcoming Flights to review the aircraft schedule against the request.
  5. Decide whether the pending request affects the next planning window. If the related fault is due, include it in the open-fault review. See Review Aircraft Open Faults.

Do not approve or reject the request during this review.
