Review Aircraft Open Faults

Explanation

Use this activity to review aircraft open and deferred faults before you decide whether each fault is due before the next planning window and should be included in a LINE work package. This is part of 7.46.1.1 Review all Upcoming Maintenance Requirements. See Line Maintenance Planning.

The Line Planner uses fleet due tasks, and airworthiness directives, service bulletins, and engineering orders (AD/SB/EO), as inputs. Review open faults, then opportunistic tasks. If a requirement is not due before the next planning window, return to the open-task and open-fault review. See Review Aircraft Open Tasks and Review Aircraft Opportunistic Tasks.

This activity is a review. It does not change the fault status or assign the fault to a work package. To assign a fault, see Assign Tasks and Faults.

Use the following pages in CAMO:

After a work package is published, you can also review faults in Line Maintenance Execution. Those pages show the current turn or work package. They are not the CAMO planning list. For the execution-side review of open, deferred, and historical faults, see Review Historical and Open Faults.

Prerequisites

Procedure

Review open and deferred faults in Fleet Management

  1. Go to Aviation Maintenance > Fleet Management > Faults Management > Open and Deferred Faults.
  2. Search by Barcode, Assembly Code, or Registration Code. Use More if you need additional search parameters. Select Search.
  3. Open a fault to display the Open and Deferred Fault page.
  4. In Details, review Aircraft, Inventory, Barcode, Logbook Reference, Due Date, Extended Due Date, Usage Due, Overdue, and Estimated Duration (Hours).
  5. In Work Package Information, review whether the fault is already assigned, including Work Package Barcode, Work Package Name, Work Package Number, Work Package Line Number, and Actual Start Date.
  6. Open Task Execution to review the description, tool requirements, and found faults. Open Fault Information, Task Information, Scheduling, and History if you need more detail.
  7. Decide whether the fault is due before the next planning window. If it is not due, return to the open-task and open-fault review. If it is due, continue with opportunistic tasks, then location, skill, and parts reviews. See Review Aircraft Opportunistic Tasks, Review Skill Capacity, and Review Location, Parts, Tools, and Flight Schedule.

Note: Add Operational Restrictions on the Open and Deferred Fault page is not part of this review.

Review unassigned faults on a work package

  1. Open the work package from the Open Work Packages page or the Work Package Details page.
  2. Open the unassigned faults list. Review faults that are not yet assigned to the work package.
  3. Do not assign the fault during this review. To assign a fault, see Assign Tasks and Faults.

Review faults for an aircraft turn

Use this procedure in Line Maintenance Execution after the work package is published. It shows faults for the entire aircraft on the selected turn.

  1. Go to Aviation Maintenance > Line Maintenance > Line Maintenance Execution > Mobile Maintenance > My Aircraft Turns.
  2. Open the Aircraft Turn Details page for the turn.
  3. Select Open Faults to review barcode, name, failed system, failed system position, log type, found on date, action, and whether the fault is assigned to a work package.
  4. Select Deferred Faults to review deferred faults for the aircraft.

Review faults for a work package in Line Maintenance Execution

Use this procedure in Line Maintenance Execution after the work package is published. It shows faults for the selected work package only.

  1. Go to Aviation Maintenance > Line Maintenance > Line Maintenance Execution > Mobile Maintenance > Line Maintenance Work Package Execution.
  2. Select the work package.
  3. Select the Faults tab to review barcode, name, status, failed system, failed system position, log type, found on date, action, assigned to work package, and closed date.
  4. Select Deferred Faults to review deferred faults for the work package.
  5. If required, select Fault Search to search a wider set of faults. See Fault Search.
