Assign Part to the Task

Explanation

Once the right part has been found, the planner assigns it to the work so that material can be requested and tracked against the task or fault. Use this activity to assign a selected part as a part requirement, recording how much is needed and what is to be done with the part.

You assign the part from the Add Part Requirement assistant, which opens from the Part Requirements list on the Task Execution tab of the Open Task or Open and Deferred Fault page. On the Open and Deferred Fault page, Enhanced Search produces the same requirement but adds a Specific Part Override for a compatible alternate part and shows the Local Available Qty for the selected part.

For each part you set the Quantity and the Action, and indicate whether the part is to be installed and/or removed. Some values are fixed by the part type: quantity cannot be changed for KIT or tracked-assembly parts, and install and remove cannot be changed for KIT parts. This keeps the requirement consistent with how the part is managed.

To find and select a part before you assign it, see Search and Select Part in the Inventory.

Note: Action and Quantity must be set before you can assign the part.
