Review Historical and Open Faults

Explanation

Line technicians and maintenance operations controllers review open, deferred, and historical (closed) faults before deciding how to handle a fault. This activity is a review only. It does not change the fault status.

Use the following pages in Line Maintenance Execution:

The Log Type column shows whether a fault was recorded as a logbook entry, for example CABIN. See Add Logbook Types.

The Open Faults tile on the Technician Lobby shows how many aircraft have open faults. Use My Aircraft Turns or Fault Search to review those faults.

If you have access to Fleet Management, you can also review open and deferred faults on the Open and Deferred Faults page. That page does not list historical (closed) faults.

Prerequisites

Procedure

Review faults for an aircraft turn

  1. Go to Aviation Maintenance > Line Maintenance > Line Maintenance Execution > Mobile Maintenance > My Aircraft Turns.
  2. Open the Aircraft Turn Details page for the turn.
  3. Select Open Faults to review current faults, including barcode, name, failed system, log type, found on date, and whether the fault is assigned to a work package.
  4. Select Deferred Faults to review deferred faults for the aircraft.
  5. Select Closed Faults to review historical faults, including the closed date. This list may not include all historical faults. Use Fault Search if you need a wider history.

Review faults for a work package

  1. Open the Line Maintenance Work Package Execution page for the work package. You can also open this page from No-Turn Work Packages when the work package is not assigned to a turn.
  2. Select the Faults tab to review faults assigned to the work package, including status, log type, found on date, and whether the fault is assigned to the work package.
  3. Select Deferred Faults to review deferred faults for the work package.

Search historical and open faults

  1. Select Fault Search from the Technician Lobby, the Maintenance Operations Controller Lobby, the Aircraft Turn Details page, or the Line Maintenance Work Package Execution page.
  2. On the Aviation Faults page, review fault status (Open, Deferred, Closed, or Cancelled), found on date, closed date, last action taken, log type, and fault severity.
  3. Filter or search as required. When you open Fault Search from a lobby, results can include all aircraft. When you open it from a turn or work package, results are filtered to that aircraft. See Fault Search.

Review open and deferred faults in Fleet Management

Perform this procedure only if you have access to Fleet Management.

  1. Go to Aviation Maintenance > Fleet Management > Faults Management > Open and Deferred Faults.
  2. Search by barcode, assembly code, or registration code, and then review the results.
