Remote supplier location
For each supply location, such as an airport or company, you can designate another supply location as a supplier location. Inventory at the supplier location is remote, while inventory at the supply location is local.
For each supply location, you can specify one supplier location.
- Auto-reservation reserves RFI-condition inventory that's available at the remote location. Maintenix creates a shipment to send the inventory from the supplier location.
- If stock levels for the supply location are set up and the stock low action is SHIPREQ, Maintenix creates a stock request with a remote reservation and creates a shipment to send inventory from the supplier location.
Depending where your supplier location is in relation to your supply location, it might be expensive to ship parts that are automatically reserved for part requests. If you want to replenish stock from the supplier location, but prevent remote auto-reservation for maintenance task part requests, you can select the Prevent Remote Auto-reservation check box on the supply location details page. See Prevent auto-reservation from remote supplier location.
If a supplier location is specified and a decision is later made to prevent auto-reservation from reserving from the supplier location, then reservations are broken for any inventory that was auto-reserved at the supplier location but that hasn't shipped.
If a remote reservation for a part request or a stock request is broken, the shipment line is deleted from the shipment and a history note is recorded. If the shipment line was the last or only line in the shipment, the shipment is canceled. (If you work from a paper list of shipments, you can search for the shipment by barcode).
