Finish or stop work on a task or fault

When you stop work on a task, you record the details about the work on the Work Capture page in Maintenix. You record work that is finished, but you also record the partial completion of a task such as when your shift is over.

This procedure describes the steps for recording different types of work. You might not see all of the fields described because Maintenix only shows you the fields that apply to the labor row you are recording work for.
  1. To find a task, do one of the following:
    • In the Barcode Search field, scan or enter the barcode of the task, and press Enter.
    • On the Task Search page, enter your search criteria, and click Search.
    • On your to-do list, My Tasks tab, select the check box of the task.
  2. On the Task or Fault Details page, Task Execution tab, Labor area, in the labor row, do one of the following:
    • If you have not completed the task, click Job Stop.
    • If you have completed the task, click Finish.
  3. If prompted, enter your password and click OK.
  4. For Job Stops only: on the Work Capture page, in the Job Stop area, provide the information requested.
    1. If the Remaining Hours field is visible and blank, enter a value that is not 0:00. If a value is displayed, you can optionally edit the value.
Note: You can enter the time in hours and minutes or as a decimal value.
    2. Optional: If you will resume work on the task, select Assign me to the new labor requirement.
  5. In the Labor area, enter the number of hours spent on the task, the time you started the work, and the time you stopped or finished the work.
Note: If Maintenix is configured to automatically record the start time, end time, and hours spent on the task, you cannot enter this information yourself. Go to the next step.
  6. In the Actions area, if the reference is not already displayed, enter it.
  7. In the Action box, type text describing the actions you performed or select one or more phrases from the Predefined Actions list.
Tip: You can combine manually entered text with a selection from the list and if you select a predefined action, you can edit it in the Action box.
  8. In the Fault Information area, Resolution Config Slot area, start typing the name of the ATA code of the config slot on which the issue was resolved (if the fault was resolved on a different ATA chapter than what was initially reported).
  9. If you are also certifying the task, in the Notes area, click the check box next to Certify Work Performed.
Note: Maintenix can be configured to check the Certify Work Performed check box by default.
  10. In the Steps area, do one or more of the following:
    • If all job card steps are complete, click Complete All.
    • For each job card step that you worked on or identified as not applicable, select a status of complete, partially complete, non-applicable, or pending, then enter any relevant information in the text box. You must enter information in the text box if you select a status of partial or N/A.
    • If the job card steps have skills assigned, select the appropriate status of the skill. A note is mandatory when Partial or N/A status is selected.
  11. In the Parts Removed / Installed area, provide the requested information as follows:
    • Under Removed Part:
      • Select the check box for the parts you removed from the aircraft or component.
      • Specify the reason for removing the part.
    • Under Installed Part:
      • Select the check box for the parts you installed on the aircraft or component.
      • If you installed a part whose part number is not the one shown—you installed an alternate part—select the correct one from the Part No list.

Trouble? If the part number you installed is not listed, contact your engineering or technical records department.

      • Enter the serial number or batch number of the parts you installed.
  12. In the Measurements area, for the measurements you took, select their check boxes, and enter measurement values. In numeric measurement fields you can enter only numbers and decimals.
Note: Maintenix can be configured to require mandatory non-null values for measurements. Maintenix can be further configured to display a N/A check box which provides a way for the technician to indicate that a (mandatory) measurement is not applicable, impossible to take or is otherwise undefined. When a measurement is marked as N/A a reason note is mandatory.
  13. In the Tools area, for each tool that you used, select its check box, then enter its serial number and the number of hours you used the tool.
If there are discrepancies between the part serial numbers you entered and those in Maintenix records, you see a message describing the issue. If you stopped the task without the work being completed, the task status changes to PAUSED and a new labor row is added to the task for completing the work. If you finished your work, and all other labor rows are also finished, the task status changes to COMPLETE, unless the task requires certification or inspection, in which case it remains IN WORK.
