What actions trigger auto-reservation?

A number of events in Maintenix add part requests or available inventory that auto-reservation processes.

The following changes or events trigger auto-reservation:
  • Part requests are created, canceled, or updated. Part request updates can include changes to priority, needed by date, or status - a part request with AVAIL status changes to OPEN if inventory that was reserved is stolen.
  • Changes in inventory that's available for auto-reservation: for example, a shipment is received and new inventory is created. For another example, if the RFI condition of a reserved item changes to REPREQ auto-reservation breaks the reservation since the inventory is no longer eligible for auto-reservation.
  • Changes in work packages: a work package is committed or uncommitted, started or unstarted, or rescheduled. A part request that's eligible for auto-reservation can be in OPEN status without triggering auto-reservation. When you schedule a work package that has tasks with part requirements Maintenix automatically creates part requests but does not trigger auto-reservation. Auto-reservation is triggered when you click the Request Part, Commit Scope, or Start Work Package buttons.
  • Changes in tasks: for example, the Needed By date is changed, or if you add a task or fault with part requirements to a work package that is already committed or in work, the part requests are automatically created and auto-reservation processes them.
  • Changes in inventory locations: When inventory is transferred within a supply location, auto-reservation is triggered. In most instances, if the inventory is transferred to or from a preferred or ignored location and was reserved for an unlocked part request, auto-reservation breaks the reservation. There are some exceptions such as when inventory is transferred from one ignored location to another - reservations are not broken unless one of the ignored locations is also a preferred location. If you transfer part of a reserved batch, the reservation for that batch is kept, but reservations for other parts of the same batch break depending where they're transferred from and where they're transferred to. Auto-reservation is triggered if inventory is moved to another supply location.
  • Changes in auto-reservation locations: the remote supplier location is changed or auto-reservation is prevented from the supplier location.
