Unserviceable inventory inspection
Not all inventory is received at the dock in serviceable condition, so inspectors can inspect inventory as unserviceable.
If you want to accept an unserviceable item into stock with the intention of repairing it, you must inspect the item as unserviceable so that its condition changes to repair required REPREQ.
The Inspect As
Unserviceable button is only visible for items that meet these conditions:
- Item is received from a vendor for a purchase order, repair order, or exchange order.
- Item has not been inspected yet.
- Item is not a KIT.
When you inspect inventory as unserviceable and there is an associated IN WORK component work package, the work package must be completed as unserviceable before you can inspect as unserviceable.
Inspection as unserviceable results in the following changes:
- The inventory condition changes to REPREQ.
- If requested, Maintenix prints an unserviceable part tag.
- Maintenix moves the item to the Unserviceable Staging tab.
- An INSP (receive inventory) financial transaction is recorded.
- The order associated with the shipment can be closed and the invoice can be paid.
