The middle tier is separated into two middleware server deployments. One for
client functionality and one for integration functionality. A default middle
tier installation includes a single machine with two separated clusters one for
each type of deployment - MainCluster exposing services used by interactive
clients and IntCluster exposing integration services.
The separation of the middle tier into two deployment give flexibility when sizing and planning installations. By separating client and integration functionality the end users are less vulnerable to high load peaks in integrations. After the default installation is setup with the IFS Installer it can easily be extended over more machines using the Admin Console. More information about the deployment separation architechure can be found on the sections IFS Middleware Server and Robustness Considerations.
