Oracle 12c Release 2 Enterprise Edition - Important Installation Considerations

 

Oracle 12c Release 2 Enterprise Edition enables both functionality that are included in the Oracle Database ASFU license and functionality that require additional Oracle licenses.

When installing Oracle 12c Release 2 Database, it is important to be aware of what functionality that are installed. The IFS Applications DBCA template is just a template and cannot be considered as a specification of what is included in the Oracle Database ASFU license. The DBCA templates delivered by IFS disable some Enterprise Edition options, handled by database initialization parameters, which require additional licenses. These options and initialization parameters are the following:

If you have license for these options, initialization parameters must be set to the correct (default) values.

 

Note that it is not possible to remove all options by changing the initialization parameters with the DBCA template. Some of the options are only possible to remove by using the Oracle chopt tool. On windows this tool renames some “.dll” files so that when starting Oracle these options aren’t available to use. On Unix you must relink the Oracle kernel after using the chopt tool.
