Configuring IFS Configuration Builder

Input to the build process consists of a configuration file from LCS Customer Information Central, describing which components to include in the build, and a Release Repository Catalog. Below you'll find instructions on how to prepare the input to the build process. Proper setup of the customer in LCS is obviously a prerequisite to this step.

Get Customer Configuration File

The Config.txt is a text file extracted from the Customer Information Central, a web application located in the IFS Life Cycle Management System, LCS.

  1. Open the Customer  page, lookup your customer.
  2. On the Installation Info tab locate the Installation ID to build for.
  3. In the context menu for the selected Installation ID select Generate Config File.
A message reading A configuration file was successfully created is displayed.
  4. Right-click on the link to save the configuration file to you project folder, name it Config.txt

Prepare the Release Repository Catalog (RRC)

If you are fetching files from a core archive you just need locate the archive, the tool will automatically create a temporary RRC file for you, i.e. you can stop after step 1. Otherwise you have to proceed with all steps in order to prepare your own RRC file before you can use it in IFS Configuration Builder.

  1. Locate the selected release; e.g. \\corpnet\files\Archive\Archive9\
  2. Copy _ConfigBuilder (from the selected archive) to your project folder.
  3. Open the ReadMe.txt file located in the RRC folder.
  4. Change the [ARCHIVE_PATH] value to address the location of your archive.
  5. Run ChangePath.cmd
