Overview

Structure

The IFS Applications documentation consists of three major parts: Online Documentation, Technical Documentation and eLearning. These parts are installed in the folders below.

The documentation is installed by the IFS Applications Installer. The related parameters are entered in the Installer form Setup Documentation

The documentation is distributed in separate zip files which are unzipped at installation.

Runtime

The web server being used for the documentation is the HTTP server included in IFS Middleware Server.

The integrated search function is based on the Apache Solr platform. The Solr framework is embedded in the fnddoc component and installed in the <ifs_home>/ifsdoc/search folder.

For content indexing and search query handling Solr is using a service on the Windows platform and a start/stop script on Unix. The Windows service is named "IFS Solr <instance> (<ifs_home>)" and the Unix script is named <ifs_home>/ifsdoc/search/solr.sh.

The documentation is installed by IFS Installer, and it supports the possibility to add deliveries after the initial installation. For example a translated Online Documentation can be added afterwards, when it is available.
