Create New Work Package
Explanation
Use this activity to create a new work package in Line Maintenance execution when no suitable package exists for
unplanned tasks, unplanned faults, unplanned opportunistic tasks, or follow-on tasks.
You can create the work package in Line Maintenance Execution or in CAMO Line Maintenance Planning.
In Line Maintenance Execution, you can create the work package and put the new item into it in
the same action:
- On the Raise Logbook Fault assistant, turn on Create Work Package so the
new fault is packaged to the created work package. See Raise Fault.
- On the Create New Task assistant, turn on Create Work Package so a new
on-condition or ad-hoc task is assigned to the created work package. See Create Task.
In CAMO, the Line/Hangar Planner creates a new work package when no suitable package is
available, then assigns unplanned tasks and faults as a separate step. If a suitable work package already exists,
assign to that package instead. See Assign Tasks and
Faults.
Prerequisites
- The aircraft must not be locked.
- To raise a logbook fault into a new work package, aircraft configuration and flight information must be
available in Line Maintenance Execution. You must be online. See Raise Fault.
- To create a task into a new work package from the Aircraft Turn Details page, the turn
status must be Inbound, Arrived, or In Maintenance. See
Review Aircraft Turn and Create Task.
- To create a task from the Line Maintenance Work Package Execution page, the work package
status must be Active, Committed, or In Work.
- For Create Task Based on Task Definition, at least one eligible on-condition task definition
must be available in CAMO for the aircraft and configuration slot. The definition must be permitted for the
user's organization. FOLLOW requirements linked to an active REPREF definition, and requirement definitions
assigned to a maintenance program, are not listed.
- In CAMO, the due dates of the unplanned tasks and faults must fall within the next maintenance window. See
Line Maintenance Planning.
Procedure
Create a work package when raising a logbook fault
Use this procedure in Line Maintenance Execution when you raise a fault and need a new work package for it. You
must be online.
- Open the Aircraft Turn Details page and select Raise Fault. The
Raise Logbook Fault assistant opens.
- Select Raise Logbook Fault. Do not select Raise Non Routine. A non-routine
requires an existing work package.
- Select Raise and leave open, unless you are recording a historic fault that is already
closed. See Raise Fault.
- In Fault Registration, turn on Create Work Package.
- If no work package exists for the turn, a new work package is created and the fault is packaged to
it.
- If a work package already exists for the turn, turn on Create Work Package to create
another package and put the fault into it. Leave the option off to assign the fault to an existing work
package.
- Complete the mandatory fault registration fields: Fault Name, Failed
System, Fault Severity, Logbook Reference, Logbook
Type, Fault Source, Found On, and Found By.
Aircraft and Found During Flight are displayed from the turn when you open the
assistant from Aircraft Turn Details.
- Complete the mandatory labor requirement fields: Labor Skill and Scheduled Hours
(HH:MM). Set Certification Required and Inspection Required if
needed.
- If required, expand Fault Details and Measurements and complete those
fields. See Raise Fault.
- Finish the assistant to raise the fault and create the work package.
Note: If you raise a fault from the Line Maintenance Work Package Execution
page, the fault is packaged to that work package. Do not use this procedure to create a new work package from that
page.
Create a work package when creating an on-condition or ad-hoc task
Use this procedure in Line Maintenance Execution when you create a task and need a new work package for it. The
Create Work Package option is available in line maintenance.
- Open the Create New Task assistant. From Aircraft Turn Details, the turn
status must be Inbound, Arrived, or In Maintenance.
- Select Create Task Based on Task Definition to create an on-condition task, or
Create Ad-hoc Task to create work without a task definition.
- Confirm the Aircraft. The value is pre-filled where possible.
- Turn on Create Work Package. The Assigned to Work Package and
Assigned to Work Package Name fields are used only when this option is off and you assign the
task to an existing work package.
- If you selected Create Task Based on Task Definition, select the Config
Slot, optionally include task definitions on sub configuration slots, then select an on-condition task
definition. See Create Task.
- If you selected Create Ad-hoc Task, complete the required task name, configuration slot,
labor skill, and scheduled hours. See Create
Task.
- Select Save or Save & Open to create the task and the work
package.
System Effects
- A new work package is created.
- When you create the work package from Line Maintenance Execution, the new fault or task is assigned to that
work package in the same action. The work package is created in the Active status. A
corresponding fault, task, and work package are created or updated in CAMO.
- When you create a new work package for a fault and the aircraft turn already has at least one other work
package, the new work package is also created in the Active status.
- On IFS Cloud Web, when you raise a fault on a turn in Released status with a new work
package, the aircraft turn is set to In Maintenance, and the maintenance state is updated in
CAMO as In repair (INREP).
