Create New Work Package (Hangar Maintenance)
Explanation
Use this activity to create a new hangar (heavy) work package in CAMO when no suitable package exists for a
planned check, or for unassigned tasks and faults that need to be packaged into a check. The Hangar Planner creates
the work package and can schedule it in the same flow.
A hangar work package is created with the Create Work Package assistant. In the first step you
choose the Work Package Type. Select Heavy Maintenance for a hangar check.
The assistant is opened from several CAMO pages, depending on what you are packaging:
- From the Fleet List page, select Create Work Package to create a
check for an aircraft.
- From the Open and Deferred Faults page, select Create Work Package for
Fault to package selected faults into a new check.
- From the Fleet Due List page, select Create Work Package for Tasks
to package selected due tasks into a new check.
- From the Open Task page, select Create Work Package for Task to
create a work package for the task.
For an overview of the work package lifecycle, see About Hangar Maintenance
Work Packaging.
Prerequisites
- To create a check for faults or tasks, the selected faults or tasks must be unassigned and scheduled against
the same root inventory (aircraft).
- To schedule the work package during creation, hangar maintenance locations must be defined so that a capable
location can be selected.
Procedure
- Open the Create Work Package assistant from the relevant CAMO page.
- Under Select Your Option, set Select the Work Package Type to Heavy
Maintenance.
- Under Work Package Details, enter the Name, and optionally select
Service Type(s), Work Type(s), a Sub Type, a Doc
Reference, and a Description.
- Select Next. The work package is created.
- On the Scheduling Details step, either schedule the work package now or finish without
scheduling:
- To schedule now, turn on Only Show Capable Locations and select the Work
Location, then set Scheduled Start and Scheduled End. The
Scheduled Duration (Hours) is calculated automatically. Add a Description
if required, then select Finish.
- To finish without scheduling, complete the assistant and choose to navigate to the new work package. You
can schedule it later. See Schedule Work Package (Hangar
Maintenance).
System Effects
- A new hangar (heavy) work package is created in the Active status. Any selected faults or
tasks are packaged into it.
- If you scheduled it in the assistant, the work package is also given a time window and location.
- The work package opens on the Aircraft Work Package page, where you can generate
and commit the workscope and publish it to execution. See Commit Work
Package and Publish Work Package.
