Adjusting production plans and templates

Adjusting a template or a production plan manually consists of making changes to make optimum use of the available capacity, and to complete the maintenance visit in the shortest amount of time possible.

The Resource Loading Graph at the bottom of the PP&C screen displays both the demand and the capacity. You can filter the plan or template to restrict the demand and capacity shown, for example, to show only the demand and capacity for specific skills or a date range.

For capacity shortages, or the inefficient use of available capacity, you can add more capacity to the location (and update the nominal capacity to match), reschedule tasks manually, reschedule non-routine work, extend the duration of tasks and non-routine tasks to average out the demand, or do a combination of things. Also, you can change the priority level of any task to help you select which tasks to schedule earlier than others.

As you reschedule or change the duration of tasks, PP&C updates the task sequence and scheduling in the project to comply with dependencies and other date constraints present in the plan. If there are tasks you do not want PP&C to reschedule when you make other adjustments to the plan or template, you can remove or adjust the dependencies and date constraints.
