Maintenance execution
The planning of maintenance activities differs between line, heavy, and shop maintenance, but many of the basic interactions that you do in Maintenix to execute maintenance are the same regardless of the type of maintenance.
In line maintenance execution, aircraft are not removed from the flight plan and Maintenance Operations Control (MOC) works closely with technicians to make decisions on deferring open faults and communicate flight disruptions. Work packages are smaller and executed within hours instead of days.
In heavy maintenance, aircraft are removed from the flight plan. Work packages often contain hundreds of tasks that are typically assigned to crews instead of individuals. Recording time spent and time remaining on tasks is important to production planners who continuously monitor and update plans.
