Technical and project milestones
There are two types of milestones you can create in production plans and templates: technical milestones and project milestones.
You create project milestones to indicate when specific accomplishments are achieved, for example, when the inspection phase of the visit is complete. You can then create dependencies between project phases (or individual tasks) and project milestones.
You create technical milestones to identify a change in the state of the aircraft, for example, turning the power off, or placing the flaps at 15 degrees. To place the technical milestones in the correct sequence, you create dependencies between them. The end result is a series of changes in the state of the aircraft that should occur during the execution of the maintenance visit. If a task depends on a technical milestone, and you want to capture that in the template or plan, you must assign that task two technical milestones, so that the task is between the milestones. It is good practice to ensure that all tasks in a template or a plan are placed between two technical milestones. You can also reschedule a milestone by moving it along the timeline.
You can create milestones of either type individually or in bulk. You can also reschedule a milestone by moving it along the timeline.
