Create a system config slot on the assembly

System configuration slots are used to group other configuration slots that make up a functional system of the assembly, such as several tracked slots that make up the air conditioning system. They do not correspond to physical components and a part group is not automatically created when you create a system configuration slot.

The assembly must already exist in Maintenix.

System config slots are created under the root config slot, or under other system config slots. There are three steps to complete this process: creating a system config slot, assigning usage parameters to the config slot, and then synchronizing the usage parameters.

  1. On your to-do list, click the Assembly List tab.
  2. Click the Assembly link for which you want to create a sub-config slot.
  3. On the Assembly Details page, Config Slots tab, select the radio button for the ATA that will be the parent of the new ATA.
  4. Click Create Subconfig Slot.
  5. On the Create Config Slot page, in the Identification and Details area, provide the required information. Note the following:
    • Name: Enter the config slot name. This should be the ATA chapter for the system.
    • Config Class: Select SYS (System).
    • Mandatory: If a component is removed from a mandatory config slot, the hierarchy is considered incomplete (not airworthy) until a replacement component is installed.
  6. In the Codes and References area, provide the required information. Note the following:
    • ATA Code: The ATA chapter code for the system.
    • RVSM Significant: Select this check box if the config slot is RVSM significant.
    • ETOPS Significant: Select this check box if the config slot is important for ETOPS approval.
  7. In the Sensitivities area, select the applicable sensitive system types.
  8. Click OK.
  9. To assign a usage parameter to the config slot, on the Assembly Details page, click the Config Slots tab.
  10. In the Config Slot column, click the link to the required config slot.
  11. On the Config Slot Details page, click the Parameter tab.
  12. Click Assign Parameter.
  13. Select the radio button of the usage parameter to add to the config slot, and click OK.
  14. On your to-do list, Assembly List tab, click Synchronize Usage Parameters to synchronize the usage parameters.

Once completed, additional system or tracked config slots can be created on this system config slot to create the functional or physical equipment hierarchy of the assembly. In addition, these changes are visible on the History tab.
