Unserviceable work packages

Typically, when you complete a component work package, the item is repaired and serviceable. However, in some situations you may need to complete a work package before the item has been fixed. In these situations, you complete the work package as unserviceable.

For example, you may need to complete a work package as unserviceable when:
  • You start a work package, inspect the item, and then realize that you do not have the correct tools or skills to perform the repair. In these situations, you need to close the existing work package even though the item is still unserviceable, and send it for repair elsewhere.
  • As a quality inspector, you receive shipment of inventory for a repair order, but the inventory is not in serviceable condition.
The Complete Work Package As Unserviceable button appears on the Work Package Details page after all tasks in the work package are completed. Any tasks that were not performed for the work package, must be unassigned before you can complete the work package.
When you complete a work package as unserviceable, Maintenix does not assess the inventory for release as it does when work packages are completed normally. Maintenix does not do the following:
  • Display the Preview Release page.
  • Check for overdue tasks, AOG faults, missing components, etc.
  • Auto-fill holes on mandatory components.

If the component was repaired by an internal shop, then after the work package is completed as unserviceable, Maintenix sets the the condition of the item to repair required (REPREQ).

If the component was repaired by an external vendor, then after the work package is completed as unserviceable, the condition of the item is inspection required (INSPREQ). If you then inspect the inventory as unserviceable, Maintenix then changes the condition of the item to repair required (REPREQ).
