Review Aircraft Opportunistic Tasks
Explanation
Use this activity to review opportunistic tasks that can be performed with work already planned for a LINE work
package when capacity is available. This is part of 7.46.1.1 Review all Upcoming Maintenance
Requirements. See Line Maintenance Planning.
An opportunistic task is non-mandatory extra work that is linked to a task already in the work package. The link
is an opportunistic task link on a block or requirement definition. It helps the Line Planner identify additional
work that fits the visit and make use of available technicians, parts, and tools. See About Hangar Maintenance Work Packaging.
Opportunistic tasks are not the same as all open tasks. To review due open tasks, see Review Aircraft Open Tasks. To review open and deferred faults, see Review Aircraft Open Faults.
This activity is a review. It does not assign the opportunistic task to the work package. To assign a task, see
Assign Tasks and Faults.
Use the following pages in CAMO:
- On the Work Package Details page, select View Opportunistic Tasks to list
tasks that are opportunistically linked to tasks already in the work package.
- On the Work Package Details page, open the unassigned tasks list to see other active tasks
that can be brought into the package. Those tasks are not opportunistic links.
- On the Open Task page, review labor, tools, found faults, and subtasks for a selected
task.
After a work package is published, Line Maintenance Execution shows packaged and open tasks on the work package.
Those lists are not the CAMO opportunistic-link list.
Prerequisites
- The work package must have been created. See Create New Work
Package.
- Opportunistic links must exist between task definitions, for example between blocks or requirements, so that
View Opportunistic Tasks can list additional work.
- To review a task on the Open Task page, the task must be active.
Procedure
Review opportunistic tasks on a work package
- Open the work package from the Open Work Packages page or the Work Package
Details page.
- Select View Opportunistic Tasks.
- Review the tasks that are opportunistically linked to tasks already in the work package.
- Decide whether each opportunistic task should be included, based on due date, available skills, parts, tools,
and the next planning window. If the task is not due before the next planning window, return to the open-task and
open-fault review. See Review Aircraft Open Tasks and Review Aircraft Open Faults.
- Do not assign the task during this review. To assign a task, see Assign Tasks and Faults.
You can also open the unassigned tasks list on the Work Package Details page to review other
active tasks that are not yet assigned. That list is a packaging review. It is not the opportunistic-link list.
Review an open task
- Go to Aviation Maintenance > Fleet Management > Work Packages And Tasks > Open Task.
- Select the task. Each list entry shows the task ID, name, aircraft, inventory, and status.
- Review the description. If required, select View HTML Description.
- Review Labor for skill, stage, scheduled hours, certification required, and independent
inspection.
- Review Tool Requirements, Found Faults, and Subtasks if
you need more detail before you decide whether the task fits the visit.
Review packaged and open tasks in Line Maintenance Execution
Use this procedure after the work package is published. It shows tasks already on the work package. It does not
list CAMO opportunistic links.
- Go to Aviation Maintenance > Line Maintenance > Line Maintenance Execution > Mobile Maintenance >
Line Maintenance Work Package Execution.
- Select the work package.
- Select Workscope to review tasks already in the package.
- Select MPC Open Tasks to review open maintenance program control tasks.
System Effects
- None. Reviewing opportunistic tasks does not change the task or the work package.
- To assign an opportunistic task or an unassigned task to the work package, see Assign Tasks and Faults.
